Job & Career Opportunities
Schools in Bydgoszcz and Torun are committed to training and professional development. The schools within the group enjoy good communication, which facilitates the pooling of resources, allowing a wider range of training to be on offer than if the schools operated as independent units. For career-orientated teachers the schools combine to offer a diverse and challenging range of opportunities. Career opportunities for motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic staff often arise as the schools grow and expand their services. As a new teacher you can expect to receive a high level of support and input after your CELTA (the schools employ teacher trainers). Over the period of a year you can expect to receive relevant and continual support with an emphasis placed on support through observation by DoS. During the academic year, peer observation is also strongly encouraged. For more experiences teachers, there are many opportunities to develop your skills; each school has a range of Senior Teaching posts. These posts are designed to give pre-Diploma teachers a specific area of responsibility. For example: testing, young learners, exam classes or Business English. More experienced teachers, under the guidance and supervision of the DoS can also give sessions either in the weekly input session programme or at the Teacher Training Days.
For those teachers holding the DTEFLA / DELTA there is a clear career structure with ADoS, DoS, and administration posts available. Some of the schools have so far run International House Teacher Training courses, predominantly the IHCYL, but with others soon to be added. For teachers committed to the groups there is the added incentive of financial assistance towards the Diploma. At the end of the academic year, teachers are given the opportunity to transfer to other International House Schools worldwide should they wish to do so.
