Backgrounds to the schools
The Business Side
Bydgoszcz was founded in 1992, when it was seen that there was a real demand for quality English language tuition in the area. The first school in Bydgoszcz opened in Plac Piastowski, before expansion dictated a move to ul. Dworcowa, before expansion again has enabled us to move to our own building on ul. Piotrowskiego.As the original school in Bydgoszcz expanded, so it was decided to branch out into other towns. The second in the group was Toruń, founded in 1993. The largest of the schools is Bydgoszcz, with over 700 General English students, followed in terms of size by Torun.
Recently we have been able to start accessing European Union funding for some courses - this has helped us expand our client base and the schools have a vibrant energy of growth about them.
The Educational Side.
High priority is given to educational support in the schools and teachers are encouraged to attend workshops and seminars in other parts of the country, besides those held at the schools themselves, and to give their own presentations as well.Each of the 3 schools hosts a teacher training day, as well as running frequent workshops. A wide range of teaching levels exist within the schools, from Younger Learners through to Upper Intermediate, FCE, CAE, and CPE, which make for a varied workload. There is a supportive staffroom atmosphere that encourages an exchange of ideas and provides a forum for informal discussion and lesson analysis.
In addition to the Director of Studies (DoS) there are Assistant Director of Studies (ADoS) and senior teaching staff with special responsibilities (for example Young Learners and Business English) who provide ongoing support within their areas.
